Sampling Methods

Performance Mode (single-sample mobile) vs Fidelity Mode (parallel PC/Console) comparison.

Performance Mode vs. Fidelity Mode

Performance Mode (Mobile / Low-End)

Processes the entire Texture2DArray using a single sampling operation, indexed by a grayscale map derived from your terrain painting. Extremely lightweight and efficient. Anti-Tiling and Tessellation Factor are applied globally across all layers.

Fidelity Mode (PC / Console)

Samples the Texture2DArray in parallel with hardcoded indices, producing razor-sharp normal maps and superior visual fidelity. Provides full creative freedom with per-layer controls for Tessellation Factor, Amplitude, and Anti-Tiling.

Even in Fidelity Mode, OptiTerra typically maintains a ~90% performance advantage over default Unity terrain rendering.
